Description
A Dominion design from before the Deformation Wars, the Arrogant Class battleship was typical of that era, mainly the lack of actual fighting ability (relative to it's size and cost). Over +9 km hull was in length, much of the rear hull was dedicated to the logistics of maintaining its substantial crew, most of which are superfluous at best. The heavy laser battery on each side, while formidable, only the forward most turrets can actually aim forward. A single missile bay lies in the nose of the forward hull, much of it buried within the hull itself. The finned design was rather normal for the time period as a way to mount a large habitation ring within the hyperspace field without making the entire ship larger than needed.

Most of these ships, and much of the Dominion itself, were destroyed during the course of the Deformation Wars, which highlight the relative useless of many of the pre-war ship designs of the various combatants, as well as the general "head in the clouds" mentality of most of the governments and militaries in preparing for and fighting total interstellar wars. The few surviving ships were repainted in a dark grey, as a reminder of the losses of the war (and eternal vigilance, though not like they're of much use in that regard). All were relegated to training roles, saved for the occasional diplomatic missions.

The finned design however proved to be rather popular, at least for the export market in the fringe systems. The most famous of these Neo-finned designs are the "Mary Sue" battleship, built for the Principality Space Navy. Interestingly enough, the two designs almost met in the field of combat as the Dominion planned to send the DNWS Defiance as part of the initial naval expedition task force (mostly a symbolic gesture, no one actually expect the aliens to do anything major and the Principality was a joke militarily, not to mention the more pressing matters that were occurring in the core regions...). Unfortunately due to the age of the ship, the rear hull cracked and the ship was laid up for repairs. Which was for the best as the subsequent planetary invasions of the Sodden System by the Nitten Star Navy forced a much larger response from the Dominion...
