Description Alright, let's make one thing clear. Yes, a minifigure of Merida, if you want to call it that, exists as part of the Disney Princess theme. However, like the LEGO Friends theme that is also made primarily for young girls, it doesn't fit the standard appearance of most minifigures. This is most likely why another Disney Princess, Ariel of The Little Mermaid, was part of the series of Disney Minifigures, which also included other characters who had previously been in various LEGO themes, such as Mickey Mouse and Buzz Lightyear.

Merida's adventurous and tomboy nature are what make her my favorite Disney Princess, aside from Snow White for being the first, as well as the first protagonist for a Disney movie outside of cartoon shorts. Because of this, I wanted to make sure she got the same treatment as Ariel and received an actual minifigure instead of the ones that look like creepy plastic store mannequins. Merida's skirt is a basic piece that sloped on the back side. This has been used for various minifigures over the years, particularly to represent a long dress or robes. Such is the case for a princess minifigure from an incarnation of the many LEGO Castle themes, and Professor McGonagall from the Harry Potter theme. One of Merida's trademark features is her wildly curly, yet fiery, red hair. A simple hair piece would simply not do her hair style any justice. So to reflect on this, Merida's hairpiece is the same shape as the hair piece that was used for Dana Barrett in the Ghostbusters Firehouse set. The only difference is that the piece is colored orange.

So here you have it. Our favorite redhead from Scotland, who can handle a bow and arrow much better than Katniss. Also the best Disney Princess. She's the lovely Merida.
