The ISA Cutter-Class was among the first of a series of new small craft classes conceived by the ISA in response to increased raider threats and one of the most highly advanced vessels of the time. Its stunning speed was less a result of progessing propulsion technologies, but rather attributed to advances in artificial gravity and dampening field developments.

Background
The rising prominence of fighters and strike craft following the Last Shadow War gave rise to many new small craft designs in various navies throughout the known galaxy. Following the example of the Earth Alliance, which had succeeded in designing one of the most successfull fighters of the time, many of the younger races began increasing the carrier capabilities of their active battle groups.
The introduction of so many new types of strike craft into various navies, however, had one less desirable side-effect. Large numbers of relatively capable, older strike craft were quickly decommissioned or mothballed, but inadvertently ended up on the black market and in the hands of raiders. To meet the increased thread of ever more sophisticated pircacy problem, the ISA resolved to develop a series of cutting edge strike craft classes of its own.
