Ever since the death of his parents, Derek has found it hard to recover from it. It felt like from that point on, it all went downhill. His aunts, Debbie and May, gave him some company and helped him as much as they could to make it through life, but of course, everyone has their own shit to do at some point. When he met Jane, he felt understood and for a while he felt safe. Her presence put him at ease, and she always offered to listen to him. Derek fell in love with her eventually, Jane did too.

But just sometimes, love is not enough. Jane found herself withdrawn to work in the fashion industry, to the point she moved away from the city she met Derek in just to follow her dreams. After a long 15 years of spiraling in and out of his depression, he seemingly couldn't be worse. Not only was he living all alone in the mansion his parents left him, he also had no friends other than Jane, and he found himself struggling in what career he should study. Isolating himself, focusing on his hobbies as a way to distract himself from the thoughts that triggered massive anxiety, he continued to drown in his loneliness even more every day.
