Description

This box of paulownia wood represents the eighth and the last of a series of boxes of this kind. For this latter work, the most precious, I chose to carve an original, but not abstract, design with the chipcarving technique.
Since it is not a relief it was quite difficult to make the design, to avoid the risk of going too deep and piercing the wood of 6 mm thickness.
The drawing represents the fight between a dragon, holding two rings trapped in his coils, and a knight with heavy armor and sword.
After the carving, there's been the stage of coloring, using acrylic paints. The finish is been made instead with shellac, to fix the colors, and synthetic protective in order to preserve the painting.

Length: 20 cm
Width: 14 cm
Thickness: 4 cm
Weight: 200 grams
