I scream but no words come out
Angry I throw my hands and let go of the wheel
Thoughts of You, memories attack me
Holding you close as the last song plays
The tears on my face as the song reminds me of you
Holding you close knowing it was all worthless
Then you avoid me for a week and we never speak of it again
Memories of three years of failure and bad timing
And each failure hurt the more
Being happy that I thought I finally found someone worth it
Then finding out she’d be more than happy to betray me
Foolish attempts at a foregone failure
Leaving tears, and a rabbit, in its wake
Smiling and laughing, talking of the future
While avoiding the truth and knowing you deserve better
Holding you close as you smile
Knowing that smile will haunt me

And they all knew what they were doing, and I watch as things I’ve buried time and again come exploding forth like a volcanic eruption. Leaving me burned, but never quite too damaged so that I can’t heal to add another failure in due course.
