Description Here's my redesign of Marcus K. Gear from Coaltar Force. Boy, does he look so much better in this design. I'm very happy with how this came out, especially considering this was one of my very first drawings on the tablet. My favorite expressions to draw were his smug face, his surprised look(which was very Karkat-inspired), and his angry face on the lower left part of the picture. Yep, this was a lot of fun to do.
In the description down below, you'll see that I mention a character named Judith that I haven't drawn yet. Well, I'll get to her eventually. But next I need to work on KH Episode 21, so that will be up next. Comments are appreciated, thanks.

The profile template is from here [link]

1.Physical Description / Basics – Human:

Name: He's had a few different last names, but for now he's sticking with Marcus K. Gear
Age: 30 at the beginning, turns 31 early on in the series
Gender: Male
Height: Around 6'0
Skin/Race: Caucasian/Middle-Eastern
Eyes: Right eye silver, left eye brown
Typical / current clothing: Usually wears a red jacket, normal blue slacks, any shirt he can find, likes cool-looking jackets, prefers the color red
Accessories / makeup: Always wears gloves
Unusual features: Two scars on his face, one on his left cheek, the other on his right eye, which resulted in him having a fake robotic eye. Has three fake fingers on his left hand leaving only his thumb and index finger
Posture: Sometimes slouches, especially when he's bored, but otherwise has a pretty decent posture
Voice and speech: Can range from being very dramatic to very loose and quick, likes to yell a lot, swears constantly, even when he's not angry

2.Special Abilities:

Name: No actual name, sometimes called Force Blasts
Source of ability: Began to develop the ability at around age 7
Description of ability: Can shoot beams from his hands or any other posable limb, though the beams are more like a really hard punch to the face rather than a melting sort of beam, can also power his fist up for a short second when punching someone
Limitations of ability: It can begin hurting his body if he uses it excessively, cannot shoot a beam with his whole fist as it would most likely tear his hand apart, which is why he is missing three fingers.

4.Combat:

Average level of combat preparedness: Very prepared, he's been fighting things for most of his life and can sense when a fight is about to happen
Typical combat tactics: Will try to take down as many enemies as possible and often tries to defeat more than one mook at a time, very manic and loose, will keep going even if he sustains an injury, which can be an advantage and a disadvantage
Specific situational combat maneuvers: When fighting hand to hand, will rush the enemy, when fighting someone with a weapon, he'll try to keep a distance

5.Setting / Background:

Original universe / setting / genre: Earth in a not-to-distant future setting with a bit of fantasy and sci-fi mixed in
Born in: An apartment in New York City
Previously lived in: Many different places, but he spent a large chunk of his life in NYC
Currently lives: In a sort of crappy apartment in Portland, Oregon
Family: Arnold and Regina Whitmare, both unknown and probably boring people, his sister Kelly, who is also unknown but may not be all that boring
Material wealth: Enough to get by and eat
Social status: Seen as a nuisance rather than help
Affiliations: With the Coaltar Force, a sort-of hero group that he formed.
Close friends: Zero, a sentient soda can, is his closest friend, Mr. Frederick is kind of his friend, though he doesn't like him all that much, Vince, Kristen, Chip, and Judith are all his comrades and aquaintances
History: To be revealed later.

7. Further Characterization:

Sum up your character in a short sentence: Passionate, manic, and stupid and brilliant at the same time.

What is your character's general demeanor?-Marcus is very energetic and usually pretty cheerful, but can rapidly change moods. He puts his heart into everything he does, or at least everything that he doesn't find boring. He has quite the ego and can be a little overbearing, but never seems to care about material reward. He also is fiercely loyal to his comrades, even if he sometimes messes with them, insults them, and treats them like crap...Um, yeah.

Marcus has very little tolerance for people who act like assholes or annoy him, though he'll do his best to merely yell at them and not hurt them physically. But since he usually has strong feelings and emotions, he can have a hard time controlling himself. Luckily, he has Zero around to get him to chill out.

What are your character's skills?-As stated before, he can shoot beams from his limbs, but he prefers his fingers. He's also well-trained in hand-to-hand combat. He's also pretty good at problem-solving and planning, though he works best on his feet.

What are your character's strengths?-He's pretty strong for his size, but he definitely couldn't lift a large car or something like that. He can take down multiple enemies at a time, can focus all of his energy into one punch. His robot eye lets him focus on a target and shoot right at it, though he uses it pretty sparingly since he, as said earlier, likes to take down as many things at once. He's also extremely adaptable and a fast-learner. He will keep going, no matter how bad an injury is. Due to his slight-insanity, he is not easily confused or frustrated.

What are your character's weaknesses?-He's really bad with actual weapons, though he's pretty average with guns. He lacks in grace or precision, preferring to destroy as much as he can, which can lead to problems. Even though endurance is a good quality, he sometimes doesn't know his limits, trying to do more than he can really handle. Sort of lazy and needs to be motivated at times When he is frustrated, he starts to lose his common sense(what little of it there is) and is even more reckless than he already is.

What does your character enjoy?-Over-the-top comedies, good beer, most types of music as long as it's not crappy. He loves to go really fast or be stimulated in that sort of way to make himself energetic. A huge fan of cartoons from the eighties and nineties. Also really likes the Muppets and used to want to be a puppeteer when he was little. Loves being around people, which is also why he likes big cities. Loves the winter and anywhere cold. His favorite animals are dogs.

What does your character avoid or dislike?-Really shitty humor and most teenagers(too bad he's a middle school teacher at the moment). HATES hipster douches or anyone who acts pretentious(too bad he lives in Portland). Dubstep, he can't stand it all. Anywhere too warm, boring movies, his teaching job, being scolded or talked down to.

What does your character think is worth fighting for?-Anything that you believe in as long as you have a solid reason to.

What does your character fear?-Being alone, unable to move or do anything, losing any more of his limbs, centipedes(though he's fine with other bugs), drowning and the ocean(he can deal with other bodies of water just fine, though)

What is your character's general attitude toward life?-He's pretty fifty-fifty on how much he likes it and how much he hates it, but seems to be more positive than negative about it.

What motivates your character on a day-to-day basis?-Following a path that he has decided to set for himself and see it to the end. Also, living to see the day jetpacks are invented.

In a unexpected, dangerous physical situation, how is your character likely to react?-If it's something life-threatening, he'll swear even more than he usually does and try to fix the situation as soon as possible. He would also be very panicky if he can't think of one quickly.

How would your character react to an emotional shock, such as the sudden death of a loved one?-He would either get really angry at everyone, especially himself, or he'll go numb and show very little emotion. Trust me, seeing him act the latter is bad news.

What stereotypes do others apply to your character? What ones actually fit?-Most people think of him as a completely selfish, egotistical, maniacal, and reckless meathead. He is a bit selfish, but that's definitely not his biggest problem. Yes, he does have quite the ego, he is pretty maniacal, and he is extremely reckless. But he really isn't as dumb as most people think he is, just a little dense when it comes to some topics.

What is the single most important thing about your character?-He's a silly character from a silly story, so don't take him too seriously.

PS. Man, there sure is a lotta white space on the drawing!
