Description
*blink*On my back in the field late into the night.
Staring up at the stars and letting the sounds
of the night embrace my shivering frame.
*breathe*
The stars look exactly like fireflies
trapped in the black expanse of the sky.
Stretching as far as the eyes can see.
Each trying to wiggle free of its prison.
(And failing)
Each calling to me to free them from their inky cell,
each silently whispering
in my ears
in my mind
in my heart...
*listen*
I gently stretch my hands toward the distant light.
And for a brief second I feel my hand
close around that twinkling firefly
and I know the only thing it wants is to finally sleep.
shining so long
does have its
drawbacks...
*yawn*
I slowly bend to kiss the star that found its way
into my dreams and filled my heart with purpose.
As my lips touch (impossibly), I hear "Thank You"
almost a mental sigh as the light goes out.
*blink*
So night after night, one by one
I reach, then dream, then smile and sigh
as each light goes out I know dreams come true
and ever so gently I set another soul free as I
(impossibly) Kiss the Night.
*smile*
....
*sleep*

I often stare.. not only at the star lit sky, but many a thing. And wonder. But the stars and moon are a very common thing to look at. Interesting way to tie in a common theme take care

Wow... this is one of your better poems here.
I really like it - very original.
I would lose the text in parenthesis - (and failing) (impossibly)
I read them without it and it really flows better and doesn't lose any meaning.
I especially like the analogy of the stars caught in an "inky cell"
Very good
