Ah, the miracle of baking.This turned out to be one of the most time-consuming pieces I've done in a while. It was definitely worth it though.

This reminds me of a Far Side cartoon where two witches were having a talk at a gingerbread house a la Hansel and Gretel. One of them had told the other she was pregnant, so the punchline was the other saying "Wonderful! I thought you really meant it when you said you had one in the oven."

The composition of it all is really well played out, the hospital room setup is completely believable and the coloring scheme draws the viewers' attention to all the right places. The expressions of the people can be taken in several different ways; which is a very nice and hard to achieve affect. On first glance it's a very shocking picture, but once the viewer thinks of that saying, it becomes a kind of a bittersweet humor. I doubt there's a single person that didn't at least smile at this, it portrays an old idiom very boldly, and it is an overall excellent piece.
Or maybe that's something I should put in a critique?
