Description DC comics has often used Hercules (aka Heracles) since the Golden Age. Hercules appears in the first issue of Wonder Woman, where he granted Diana strength greater than his own. He was one of the immortal gods and heroes whos powers the wizard Shazam passed on to young Billy Batson, and appeared in Captain Marvel's comics. He was also one of the ancient heroes who the heroic Kid Eternity would sometimes call on. In the Silver Age, Superman met Hercules on a number of time-travel adventures. Oddly, Herc was often paired with Samson as muscle-buddies, and the two even came to the 20th century to romance Lois Lane and Lana Lang. (One of the strangest details in these was the Jewish hero, Samson, uttering the phrase "Great Zeus!")

Hercules has appeared in modern times as a long-haired and bearded blond version, and in the George Perez era Wonder Woman series as a longer-haired version of Marvel's Hercules.

An often forgotten version is this one from the short lived 1970s series Hercules Unchained. This Herc was chained to a rock for centuries and only managed to free himself in the near future following World War III. He roamed a barren landscape, protecting the human survivors and fighting monsters, mutants, and other post-apocalyptic threats.

This version of Hercules was created by Gerry Conway, JL Garcia Lopez, and Wally Wood and is the property of DC Comics.
