Description I know there are strongly mixed opinions about the old Beauty and the Beast TV series from the 80s. I am firmly in the camp of those who loved it. Yes, it could get kind of saccharine at times, but I thought the relationship between Catherine and Vincent was an interesting one, and the casting was outstanding. In addition to early roles for Ron Perlman there was Roy Dotrice, Tony Jay, a pre-Ferengi Arman Shimmerman, a pre-Fresh Prince James Avery, and many more. The series had a dark and magical feel that Batman the Animated series and (even more) Gargoyles would achieve later. To top it off, the series headwriter was no less than George RR Martin. Plus, there's nothing in the world like Ron Perlman under a ton of leonine makeup reading Shakespeare. It was just a lot of cool.

This image is a Chimera of sorts. I can't draw, so this doesn't resemble the character much, though I hope it's true to the spirit of the show. I cobbled it together using parts of characters from Gargoyles, Avengers EMH, and Batman, the Animated Series.

Vincent and Beauty and the Beast were created by Ron Koslow and are the property of CBS television.
