Description
An elephantine-faced chimera of Japanese folklore that feeds on negative mental energy. Humans prove to be the most prominent food source, hence the baku's tendency to live near human-populated areas. Too shy to approach them though, the baku visits them while they sleep. It is in their dreams that ill thoughts are at their strongest, ergo ripe for eating. The baku drains person's nightmare from their mind like poison from a wound, leaving them with nothing but good dreams and therefore fortune in their waking life.

The photo used for that backdrop in this piece was taken almost six years prior at Wilde Lake Park.

There are two reasons for the opalescent effect: One, an irresistible passion. Two, opalescence and baku are both conglomerations (the former being one of colors and the latter being ones of animal parts).
