He's wearing a backpack to signify youth. The front and side view were supposed to be the same size, so that didn't work out. He's pointing out my error.
I bought a posable model once at Walmart, but I broke one of the legs off almost immediately. I don't know what that says about me, but I've only just figured out that it makes more sense to start sketching the shape of a person's torso than to start with their head, so this is my progress.
