You do have a good point.   A lot of the focus seems to be on Spike's side, but rarely does it look at Rarity's side of things.  Probably because Rarity for the most part has it all together, even with the implied 'relationship' that seems to be there with Blueblood....Since there isn't much to see with Rarity, we focus on the one that is more interesting....And I hate to admit, but Spike a much more interesting character than Rarity at this time, even with her 'heart of gold' that we has seen in her in previous chapters...

...which reminds me, I hope that Blueblood turns out to be a pretty decent character, a lot of times that I see Blueblood, he's either the antagonist, a jerk, or just simply a bad guy and the scum of the earth.  yet ironically we don't know much about Blueblood at all...

Fair enough. I just think that this kind of connection should be more intimate and Spike's infatuation with Rarity just seems like a joke in the cartoon so I can't take it seriously here either. It just makes the connection less...impactful than it should be

Sometimes it is but not always, particularly in the episode "Secret to my Excess" from which Mauroz seems to taking quite a bit of inspiration. Also I think a child's crush on a older person would likely appear silly or comic to most people, regardless of weather a TV show is trying to use it as a joke. I imagine that if the show went on for long enough Spike would eventually grow out it and start fancying those his own age. As for Sweetie Belle, she's a manipulative little b**** in this comic, I wouldn't want dear little Spike dating her.

Sweetie Belle is also a kid so she gets a pass if you ask me. I just find it a little much to have a literal magical connection between these two

Well if the comic lasts long enough for her to grow up then sure, Spike X Sweetie. Honestly I though it was a little much too, but if you're going to give Spike a magical connection to someone, Rarity make more sense then everyone expect Twilight and far more sense then Sweetie.

Not necessarily. If they realized Spike actually had a connection to Rarity's sister instead of Rarity, it would give them a chance to grow up and the tension to start with could add to the plot. Then maybe the Crusaders and Spike can all have roles to play

That's not a bad idea but things that happen in this comic are based on or extrapolated from the show, in which Sweetie and Spike have no special relationship, so I don't think it would fit.
