Agree. In their defense I see why the did it. To help one realize that spike isn’t a pony, but as previously stated him as a human is way better.

Now if I remember correctly, they are all re-incarnations of the characters we see on the show, not partial/total AU version like EQG. At some point in the show's timeline, after season 4 at the latest, it branched off and a great disaster forced Celestia, Luna, Discord, and maybe even Twilight and Cadence to transport everyone's souls to another world where they're reborn as humans, right?

Mm, yes... enslaved drama.

But seriously, this is heartwrenching, watching the girls have flashbacks of their moments with Spike while preparing to harm and potentially even KILL him.  And Twilight even loses her resolve specifically BECAUSE she grew up with him as her little brother.  Luckily, Applejack, now wracked with guilt over ignoring this conflict and feeling the synchronized pain of it, can't ignore it anymore.

Well done on how heavy and emotional this chapter was. It really allows for the girls' time with Spike to show how much he means, what each unique bond they have with him and how it hurts either to try to stop him or unable to. And nice to see Applejack finally accepting her destiny, even if only for her family. Gonna be intriguing to see how she and the girls will bond as things progress.
