In every one of the eight episodes I watched, she does this visualization thing to see the angles, her yo yo turns into some simple item, and then she uses that to set in motion a Rube Goldberg chain of events to disarm or otherwise neutralize the baddie.

Yes but that's not the yo yo's own power. She simply happens to use it like that and it's not always used in those (and sometimes Cataclysm is involved, which is basically the same as including her Yo-Yo in Lucky Charm mode). Hell, sometimes the ladybug vision only targets like one or two things so it's not even always rube goldberg. It's probably in later episodes where things start changing up though.
Course, there are other occasional things that also sometimes mix things up in the second season but those would fall under the purview of spoiler territory.
