Basic Magic Class #14: Week 3

Silas' fire partner, being a Finn, is having a bit of trouble with his magic classes. Silas hadn't realised this when he agreed to team up with the fishy red gro named Cobalt, and his patience slowly began to wane as he stood around waiting for the pair to begin their assignment. Looking around Gulch's forge, the imp could see other duos well on their way to completing the day's work while he was still standing there.. doing nothing. Trying to give encouraging words and advice where he could, once the Finn finally mustered up the power to produce a flame, the pathetic sight of its potency made Silas grimace. "And what, exactly, am I suppose to do with that?" he asked without thinking, ears leaning back in embarrassment for the wyngro in front of him. Looking up from the flame though he could see the sparkle in Cobalt's eyes fade at the sound of his words. "Oh," he muttered, realising he once again hadn't been able to bite his tongue in an obviously touchy situation. His aim wasn't to be rude or hurt the Finn's feelings. His lips seemed to always move faster than his mind, and yet again he found himself coming off as incredibly rude. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound harsh. You did great," he admitted with an apologetic smile. Silas would simply have to find a way to make this work for his assignment.

Ahh, poor Cobalt. I felt bad about this, but couldn't get the idea out of my head after being told he was having a rough time with the fire class. I don't feel I've ever really gotten the opportunity to showcase Silas' main flaw of being far too honest about his thoughts and feelings. He isn't intentionally rude by any means but realises sometimes people don't want to be met with the harsh truth. It's something he's been working to catch and apologise for when he hurts someone's feelings. Cobalt seems like a good guy and is certainly trying his best. The fact that he's making any progress as a Finn is admirable and Silas knows it was wrong to belittle his efforts. Stay strong, little fish stick.
