But my God, this is beautiful. Just so... natural and expressive. I love the art of makeup and costumes, cosplay or just fancy and elaborate get-ups, but I think I feel more for this photo than any of those right now. I don't see enough of natural photos like this, at least not simple ones, and I think that's why I love it so much. I might be overreacting but its lovely. Congratz on the DD.

I don't think you're understanding all of the parts of this picture. It does seem simple, because it is simple. Simple doesn't mean 'awful', in fact you need a professional eye to be able to see something so impacting. The model is very carefully chosen as well, at least, carefully selected. You'd also see the slight vignette blur on the edges. It takes a key vision to be able to make a picture like this.
And even so, it instills a beautiful emotion in it's onlookers, and isn't that what art is about? Who cares if it comes across as lazy.

Well I mean, I can take a picture of myself like this at this very moment. People have deluded themselves into thinking no work = good art. What I think you meant to say is that the reason this piece is art is because the artist is expressing themselves. Which is the true meaning of art.

Well ok Thank you for taking your time in the interest of my statement.
Well the first thing is i never said simple is awful.
You say you need a professional eye to get the impact, well i feel if there is something professionally appealing then yes.
If you see there is no camera info on the right hand side there. which also says that this pic has been manipulated. Yes the vignettes were mostly added on photoshop. The garment he is wearing is 'burnt' on the highlights. Now there are a lot of lazy bums who would say 'hey you dont need to follow the rules' Yea but you need to know them to break em. And i know of 10 billion other pics that could have deserved a DD. Sadly.

I find it incredibly disrespectful to leave your disapproval of the DD feature on the artist's work itself. If you have an issue, you should contact the community volunteer who featured it. Please respect the artist and follow the proper protocols when dealing with your disapproval of the daily deviation award.

Leaving personal thoughts aside. I appreciate the link but if it isnt the fear of others dis-approval that we get more problems inside?
Shouldnt there be a freedom of expression?
I mean if someone is nominated for something, that person can take a critics view if the work is that good or convincing.
Anyhow my point is clear there is no point arguing on this.

There is freedom of expression, don't get me wrong.
But there is a proper way to go about it, as you can tell from the FAQ I linked you to above.
While you have the freedom to discuss this issue with a Community Volunteer, it is entirely disrespectful and a lack of etiquette to do so here on the artist's piece. This action on your part speaks much louder than the point you were trying to make, simply because of your lack of tact, respect, and maturity.
For future reference, please complain about the Daily Deviation award in a more respectful manner and in the proper place.
