Description
Base by BCMastuyamaThis image was made as a rough blueprint for custom painted Clone Commando figures I aspire making, the base being the controversial gaming greats Delta Squad.
Update 1: I've lined up a good amount of accessories for these guys. currently parts for Jodino's datapad and its case are covered, and Crushup now has 2 neck armor pieces and a full painted kitbashed concussion rifle ready when it finally gets to me. Arx is complete, but pictures will be uploaded once I get that Sev and the sniper rifle.
Update 2: Finally got Sev and Fixer for Freeman and Jodino. Very excited to work on them every chance I get.
Update 3: Freeman and Jodino have been finished, and now that scorch is out my delta squad is all together and Vertigo squad will finally be as well!
Vertigo Squad are among the top Clone Commando squads - even if they're reputation doesn't precede them. The boys in Vertigo are a team defined by 4 pragmatic yet unique commandos with one thing in common; dedication, determination, and the desire to pull eachother through to see the end. From Hypori to Dantooine, Vertigo helped score several victories throughout the Clone Wars with speedy precision and a knack for using rather interesting gear and methods.
RC-1998 "Freeman" - The Lead to Vertigo and an unexpectedly aloof yet tough as nails trooper, Freeman was one of the strangest troops in the GAR. To his men and his commanders, Freeman was infamous in his tendency to make his squad work around his strange tactics; whether that be infiltrating a secure facility through the long ways of the dark underbelly or throwing his backpack to his squad and fitting his Katarn armor through the air vents, there was however no doubt that it got results. Freeman kept an array of durasteel tools to his side that enabled these unconventional break-ins or even battlefield repairs to his younger brothers' armor, as well as extra equipment to charge salvaged blasters or store extra grenades.
Freeman had a deep-rooted desire to become a researcher and cast off into the unknown regions alongside the wider scientific community. Although he was more than aware of his accelerated aging, he remained hopeful for a swift end to the war and the beginning for his new life. Where this was partially apparent to his men in his spars with wildlife through his escapades and hobby of reading scientific studies, what he hoped for nobody to know was his shaky faith in the Jedi as war commanders. Though he found himself proven wrong time to time, more often than not he was surprisingly shook with reports of chilling defeats.
RC-4278 "Arx" - Vertigo's home grown Lieutenant and the dedicated marksman and blasternut. Arx was the by-the-books soldier common to every commando squad, having a habit of prioritizing professionalism, calling his teammates their official designations and insisting to be called Vertigo-78 by his commanders. In combat Arx proudly fulfilled his role as sniper, covering his brothers in open combat and keeping his wits sharp to prepare for close combat attacks and counter snipers. However committed he was to protocol, he proved to be at least partially accepting of Freeman's nonstandard strategies; whether or not it was because he had came to like them or believed he was obligated to follow the orders of his sergeant despite disagreeing, he refused to say.
A sash of protected blaster cartridges adorned his chestplate which he dutifully made sure was loaded and free of damage, and kept his neat armor decals polished and painted. Arx kept this enthusiasm to his blasters as well, his DC-17M and pistol were well oiled, coated against weathering, and kept to maximum working order almost obsessively. Offtime between missions not taken with routine training was fulfilled completely with tinkering, reading about, and maintaining weapons he had kept in a personal storage unit. Ironically, Arx's commitment to his craft as a professional soldier caused him to refuse carrying extra space for more blasters or extra maintenance gear in the field.
RC-2355 "Crushup" - The assigned demolitions expert to Vertigo and considered the hammer of the team. Crushup was a simple man with significant skill in using either his DC-17M's grenades, veritable arsenal of throwables - and when given the rare opportunity - one of his pet favorite destructive rifles. Crushup was well known among his colleagues as the one to rely on for busting a barricade, creating a blaringly loud diversion to aid Freeman's oddball plans, or clearing a group of hostiles in a single stroke. If the job included breaking something into burnt scrap or figuring out how to do so, Crushup was the one to do it. However, he had the rattling tendency to have no hangups in turning his wrath to the organics aligned to Separatists and injustice, particularly Trandoshan and Zygerrian slavers. By the war's end, Crushup had procured two models of concussion rifle and two models of explosive slugthrower tuned up to destroy the hardiest Clankers. Though he had always had troubles getting ahold of a disruptor rifle.
Of his brothers, Crushup was most clear in his appreciation for his technical Mandalorian heritage through his battle loving nature and carefully created Jaig eyes above the helmet brow.
RC-4282 "Jodino" - The "wizkid" of Vertigo squad with qualifications in Slicing, data retrieval, and programming among others; Jodino ensured that Vertigo squad could pierce enemy networks before they knew it. Although as accomplished a soldier as the rest of his brothers, Jodino considered field combat a chore especially when the objective hinged on Jodino's work with gutting a secured console of valuable information; but when all was said and done, Jodino reveled in scouring the archives of information and extracting all he could without being noticed - as well as amusing himself with the thought of reinforcements and salvage teams finding a facilities own defenses turned against them and remaining useful systems bricked. Where his teammates carried extra provisions, Jodino carried a customized datapad in it's own armored case that aided in breaking through stubborn systems with much needed efficient speed his squad needed. Outside of combat, Jodino handed the various useful files he lifted from separatist hardware to superiors and offered assistance in keeping his brothers' helmets fully calibrated. Jodino also found a worthy hobby in sifting through the processors of captured battle droids for possible breakthroughs in creating an undetectable espionage droid.
