Admittedly, they had been provoking him, nay, demanding him to fight them seriously.
They were no fragile flower. He was no knight in shining armour.
Not on the battlefield.

It came so suddenly.
They did not see it coming.
He sprung forth like a beast.
Unleashed. Unbridled. Out of control.
This Antoine absolutely overpowered them.

He was not the snotty brat they knew, the one that cried at the thought of crushing a dandelion in their den. No, this was someone else entirely. A wolf they did not know. A stranger. A combatant. An opponent.

This was what they wanted, and they would pay for it.

Antoine was lost at first. How could he fight Faon, after what they sacrificed for him?
But when the duel began, and his sibling taunted him, he felt something rise within. He wanted to impress them, to earn their praise, to bridge this gap between the two of them. Once and for all, he wanted them to look at him like theres something there, like he’s not just a helpless child.
Now was the time.

He launched himself at them, and when they connected, it sent a shockwave through his body.

Deep down, he knew this was wrong.
But he couldn’t ignore how strong it made him feel.

The duel concluded with Antoine’s victory.
Heloïse, who oversaw the fighting, congratulated him, but he seemed preoccupied.

Faon had slunk away…
