From our 2007 calendar "Marsha's Historic Treats": an illustration for the recipe for "Marzipan." This piece was inspired by historical trivia, that the Queen Elizabeth I was quite fond of sweets. As a result, sweets became popular with the Elizabethan crowd, and the fancy little boxes for storing and serving candy were also in vogue.
