Pastblast: This was an illustration for Marsha's 2007 Historical Treats calendar. The illustration accompanied the recipe for "Payn Ragoun," a Medieval sweet somewhat like peanut brittle.
This recipe is similar to one called "How To Make A Confection From Pine-Nut Kernels," which appeared in a cookbook by - believe it or not - Nostradamus.
