A little reiteration of my previous of my previous journal entry...that nobody seemed to pay any mind to...*ahem*Anyway, I figure it was about time I got my first new game since Gold, Silver, and Stadium 2, aside from a lost and found copy of Black I had that only lasted a few months. Hell, I didn't even know Gen 3 was a thing until THAT was almost over. So, having played the first two Gens for most of my life so far, this feels great to be back on the Pokémon scene, not to mention "Pokémon Shield" itself is AMAZING, I love it a lot!
Thinking back, I did try to get Pearl back in Gen 4, but the Best Buy we called was out of stock.

Oh nice. I have both, but mainly use Pokemon Sword Version because of the different pokemon. As your journal entry said, the rivals arent snarky and mean anymore. They call it a "friendly rival," which is ok. Hope you enjoy it!
P.S. Pokemon Pearl is a great game. Pokemon Pearl and Platinum (the "complete version")/Gen 4 is my favorite I'd have to say. I'd try them out on an emulator, or if yoy can find a copy somewhere.
