A wallpaper designed and illustrated for the Tree of Life Wall Paper Contest (www.deviantart.com/ellysiumn/j… ), hosted by Ellysium (www.deviantart.com/ellysiumn )

The wallpaper this time is also my first piece of completely hand-drawn digital painting using a drawing tablet (XP-Pen Artist Pro 22E).

Instead of creating a massive tree such as Yggdrasil, the tree of the world, in this piece, I focused on creating a highly contrasted tree (using bright red color, inspired by the falling autumn leaves), which differs greatly from its surrounding.

Instead of a massive size, I choose to draw a small, yet old tree to depict the age of the tree of creation while adding in falling leaves to depict that even the tree of life still age.

Yet, around such tree, from a desolated world, life started to bloom, creating a different between the foreground and the background (which consists of rocky mounts with no life).

To add more ambience to the piece, and to depict the sacredness, I chose to add in two massive guardian statues and the statue of a goddess.
