Emmet became and and he DEFINITELY hates it. He hates bugs (rather, he's terrified of them secretly) so imagine waking up and looking in the mirror looking like a frikin insect! He probably passed out from fright. How can he show his face, when he's become the sole thing he swore to hate? Well, he should show his face, because he's aheckin-dorable as a bugaboo~ Anyways. I hope you can see the bug/fighting. I mean, praying mantises are known to be rather aggressive with prey and predators, and if Emmet weren't Dragon/Flying, he'd most definitely have been a fighting type mon anyways.
