Background Information
Ryuji first saw audino while working at his job at a coffee-shop. A customer explained that this audino may have been the audino on the missing pet fliers that had been seen around the town. Wanting to get some extra money in his pocket, he found the audino after work and called the owner of the pet, surprised to find out that the amount for audino's return was a wopping $2000. Audino didn't seem to want to go however. She'd ran away after all, to stay away from her abusive owner.

Her owner was a wealthy backyard breeder, who specialized in selling powerful exotic pets. She was not one to be bred and sold, however. Audinos are known to be cash-cows when it comes to battle experience. So, in order to make the pets he sold more powerful, her owner would make them fight against her, regardless of the pain it caused her and how much she did not like to battle. She thought that running away would solve her problems, and that encountering this nice coffee-shop man would help her get out of her situation, but Ryuji only brought her back to it. It wasn't his fault. How could he know that she wasn't being treated right? The audino couldn't seem to blame him as he brought her back to her owner.

Upon returning the audino, Ryuji met a former student of the Academy who lived in the neighborhood of the wealthy man. The neighbor informed him that it was not wise to return the audino, because of how poorly this man raised his mon. But it was too late. Ryuji had already given the audino back and had the money to prove it. Feeling terrible, however, Ryuji felt something needed to be done. Luckily, so did the neighbor, and together the two hatched a plan to steal the audino back from the owner.

That night, the two broke into the man's house, finding the audino and stealing her away. But the audino was in poor condition, having been cut and bruised from a couple of battles that night. Ryuji patched her up the best he could as she drifted in and out of consciousness. When she finally awoke, she realized who'd rescued her. It was the coffee-shop man! She couldn't believe he'd came back for her. Not only that, he'd healed her and given her a new name, officially claiming her as freed from her previous owner. From that night forward, Venti and Ryuji have been a loving duo.
