After having some time to think about it, I've come to understand why Hasbro updated Mixmaster's alt mode to a front discharge mixer instead of a traditional mixer: if they were to make an enlarged version based on the original toy, the drum would make the figure too top-heavy, and he would be prone to falling over in robot mode.  Besides, if the Transformers are supposed to be an advanced race of robots, shouldn't their vehicle modes reflect this?  Front discharge mixers have an advantage over traditional mixers in that the driver doesn't need to lean out of the cab to see where he needs to position the chute from the drum.
