Description
I was going through my incrimental backups today, laughing at how crappy and ugly my sprites always start out, when I thought to myself, "Hey! Why don't I haphazardly paste all of these together and post them so everyone can see they've evolved, laugh at the ugly beginnings and maybe learn something about spriting in the process?". (That was a failed attempt at a coherent sentence, by the way.)So I thought I would give a glimpse behind the scenes, into the process of taking a worthless mass of doodle carbon and, with a great amount of heat and pressure, turn it into a polished diamond sprite. (That was a failed attempt at a metaphor, by the way.)
I recommend you view this with an image viewer with a zoom function to closer inspect the individual pixels, and also because I drew some of the text quite tiny. Yes, I said "drew"... That's no fancy Windows font, I actually drew every single letter out by hand, pixel by pixel, because I'm meticulous and have no life.
