Tortoise the Blastoise was originally born from Blue version in 1999. I was ten years old and had no idea of what to do with him. The name was not inspired. His moveset was very basic. But he never left the party,and thus grew very strong. He could solo the Elite Four by spamming Water Gun and nothing else. He was strong and noble and loved.
That Blue cartridge died early. He was gone fast.
When I got ahold of Fire Red years later, Tortoise was revived. A Squirtle once more, but with all of my memories of his previous life.
