A bizarre combination of an octopus and an elephant, the Octophantom was created by Lord Zedd out of graffiti. Attacking Jason, Kimberly and Tommy in the park, he captured the latter in his magic jar and began draining him of his powers. In his second round with the Rangers, he captured Kimberly, Trini and Zack. Noticing that he was a vain creature, Billy went about creating a mirror-within-a-shield for Jason to use against him. The ploy worked, and as Jason battled Octophantom, Billy freed the other Rangers. Grown to giant size by Lord Zedd, Octophantom was destroyed by the Thunder Megazord.

Octophantom was later resurrected by Finster to assist Rito Revolto in ambushing the Power Rangers. He was far more successful this time, the battle resulting in the destruction of the Thunder Zords and the Rangers' original Dino Powers. Despite his victory, Octophantom was nowhere to be seen as the Rangers returned with their new Ninja Powers and Zords.

Octophantom was last seen in Zedd and Rita's army as they conquered the Vica Galaxy and defeated the Gold Ranger, where he was vaporized by Zordon's energy wave.
