🐎 Backstory 🐎
Being born on a farm that raised both crops and horses, Kaya has been living the farm life since the very start. Her parents wound up having a falling out and divorced when Kaya was 3, not long after her younger sister was born. Her father took custody of both children. Their mother would visit occasionally, but as time went on they saw her less and less. Before long, contact was cut, and they no longer saw their mother who had apparently left to somewhere far away. The girls weren't very affected by this, as they were very young and rarely saw her in the first place. It was just them and their father, and they were happy.
While her sister took more to scholarly pursuits and excelled in writing, Kaya was very attached to the farm, always begging to stay home from school to work on the farm and play with the horses instead. Occasionally her father would actually give in, and Kaya personally feels she learned more useful things on those days off than she did going to school. She had a very strong bond with her father. Some would call them inseparable, really. She'd tag along with him any time he went to deliver goods from the farm, or to give a pony to a lucky child, or to simply go on trail rides. He gifted her a young horse of her own when she turned 13, which she named Lily. She took excellent care of her, and loved her with all of her heart.
However, not all good things last forever. When Kaya was 15 and her sister 12, their father fell ill. Horribly ill. And while the family was a very happy bunch, they weren't particularly wealthy. Certainly not wealthy enough to afford treatment. Tried as they might to keep him going, her father wound up passing away not long after the illness struck. She and her sister were sent to a local orphanage, the farm being given to her uncle who wasn't ready to care for children. Losing her father, her horse, and the farm in one fell swoop, Kaya was naturally devastated. From the minute she got to her new living situation, she shut out other children at the orphanage, being snappy and grumpy towards those who tried talking to her. Naturally, this prevented her from forming any friendships, only digging her deeper into her hole.
For a long time, she was in a very dark place, but her sister was still there to help her keep seeing the good things around them. The two of them supported each other through the loss, doing their best to keep their chins up. Slowly she started climbing her way up from the darkness, searching for a way to pave a happier path in life rather than staying in a pit of despair. She began being slightly more social with the other children as time progressed, forming some small friendships. She never made any deep bonds, however, focusing most of her time and energy on herself and her sister.
The years went on, and finally one day a chance of a new life presented itself. A flier hung in the window of their local grocery store, showing a farming town trying to put itself back on the map. Running her very own farm, starting fresh and living her life as she always wanted... what the perfect chance to light things up again! Having become old enough to leave the orphanage, she packed the few things she owned. She had a tearful farewell with her sister who had to stay behind, knowing she wouldn't be able to support them both. However, her sister still visits regularly, occasionally staying for days at a time. They keep in very close contact through text messages and video chats when she's not visiting, so they're by no means separated.

🥔 Extras 🥔
* Voice: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XXc-A…
* She'll eat carrots that she pulled straight from the ground without washing them off first. She says the dirt adds an earthy flavor.
* Occasionally eats baked potatoes like she's eating an apple.
* Due to how much she adores horses, she'll commonly walk to local horse ranches to give them carrots from her farm. One day she wants to introduce horses to her own farm, though her first goal is to simply have one for herself again.
* Her sister gave her a gift of a grey stuffed bunny when she left, which she treats extremely well.
* Her father taught her how to play guitar, as well as how to ride horses.
* Holds a grudge on her uncle for sending them to an orphanage to this day.
* Has a very warm, earthy scent to her.
* Regularly sends the orphanage crops from her farm as gifts.
* If attending a formal event, she'd rather wear a suit than a dress.
* While she barely knew her mother, she still holds a mild grudge against her for not coming back to care for them when their father died.
