There's something about this piece that strikes me...I dunno...it's just nice. I love the colors, they're so muted but somehow still manage to jump out at you...probably because they work so well together. I love the figure. He looks so sad and forlorn. It kind of gives me the impression you're trying to say something like *hold on, it gets better* or some such thing. If I was going to gripe about anything, it would be that his hands are turned up, as if clenched. I think they'd look better if they were limp, hanging at his sides, but that's just one guy's opinion. This is still nice work.
