For me? They're the Yinyang, the symbol of opposites which define each other. In this case, though, they're not just opposites but complementary opposites, in the sense that one compensates for the other's weaknesses.
Prowl's "trademark" is his logic, and he also tends to be quiet, aloof and a stickler for rules and order. Jazz, on the other hand, is impulsive, social, sensual, and often chaotic. I see those differences as complementary rather than mutually repulsive because, for instance, one really cannot live by logic alone. There are some situations -- particularly when it comes to dealing with people -- that transcend or even defy logic. It even says in Prowl's specs that illogic will "freeze" him, and that's not a good thing. On the other hand, pure impulsiveness, pure emotion and sensuality untempered with reason, is equally dangerous. Mash them together, though...and you have completion. You have a "merged" person who can wield logic judiciously but who can also easily deal with those situations where logic doesn't apply all that well, where common sense is turned on its ear. Thus, when you merge just those few characteristics of Prowl and Jazz, you get something better and more complete than either one of them alone. That's why I see them as a good pair. I can't speak for other people who've taken to the pair over the years, but that's my reasoning.
Well, that and they do look awfully pretty together.

I guess because a lot of pairings are too common. I mean Prowl/Jazz is pretty widely done. Others just bitch for the sake of cramming their opinions down the throats of the unwilling...

another thing about slash Nagi: it all started with prowler and jazzy cuz, i mean look at them.. they're both the same color then it was ratchetxironhide, and dont get me wrong but optimusxelli and bbbxarcee are lovely couples, but put bbbxarcee in movie form...but then it got way out of hand: red alertxinferno, tfa prowlxjazz now thats a BAD combination, umm....and not to mention it ppl are hooking jazzy with blaster and soundwave, percy, optimus...it's messed up, OH i forgot ironhidexchromia, and flareupxsunstorm, very cute couple x3

Yeah but...I don;t know, I feel, even if one particular pairing is so common, well, what can we do? That's the pairing that the author/artist wanted to do, for whatever reason. and there's always a first fic for everyone; chances are newbie writers will choose common pairings because that's what they see, and that's what they're reading-- it's almost like when people attack common pairings, they often also attack newbie fans (like moi!).... i think it's unfair to dismiss a whole slew of fics or works just because it has a common pairing.

Tell me about it. That's why I don't do fanfics except on that super rare occasion when the mood takes me. But yea some couples are annoyingly popular, but that's what the search button is for. You type in whatever and you dig until you find something. Put a little EFFORT into it people.
But the way I see it, you drew or wrote that story mostly for yourself anyway. These flame-tards are lucky you even thought enough to share it with 'em. You draw or write what makes you happy. They don't like it? Tell 'em to send you $50 and you'll draw or write something tailored to their tastes.
