Description
Albeit a bit late for halloween, new mutations have been discovered within the Root species!!Wing Flaps: Commonly seen on tree-roots of both the common and fruit-bearing varieties, but very rarely seen on any other subspecies! It is suspected that these wing flaps help the roots safely bound from one branch to another when investigating their respective trees. Common trait on tree and fruit tree roots, ultra rare on all others
Dumbo: Much a-kin to dumbo ears found on pet rats , ears of any type that show this mutation will rest at the sides of the skull rather than upright. Rare
Oversized: Roots exhibiting this mutation will have ears larger than the average root. They may make the root hyper sensitive their surroundings, but also more likely to get caught on things and have more trouble hiding comfortably within soil. Rare
Corruption + Branch antlers/horns: Some roots have been seen with tiny versions of their respective plant dotting their bodies. Tree and bush roots with this mutation may also develop antlers or horn-like sapling growths on the tops of their heads. Ultra Rare
Porcupine-like fur: While these spines do not get stuck in the flesh of other animals, they do feel needle-like and can pierce the skin of predators. They are found more often on roots that dwell on woodland floors, but may also be seen on other types as well. Ultra Rare
Golem: Some roots have gained a mutation where chitonous, rock-like armor forms on their skin; this armor allows roots that live in rocky and desert-like terrain to better camoflauge themselves. This mutation is very rarely, if never, seen with long or curly furred roots, but rather short and hairless ones. Found more often on desert roots. Rare on desert roots, ultra rare on other tail types
Ruffs Much like a natural scarf, roots who tend to be in colder regions, such as evergreens, may have the Ruff mutation. In addition to providing needed warmth to roots, it is also soft but dense, giving a root greater protection from falls and predators. Uncommon
Undead: In rare instances when the root's tail may die or become infected with fungus, a root may become undead. This occurs most often during fall and winter months when there is much rain and snow. In these roots, patches of fur may be missing, the tail will be dried/dead, skin may gain a pale white or greenish hue and lichen, fungus and other-like organisms may subsist as parasites on the root's body or tail. A max of no more than two types of these parasites has been reported on a single root at once. Ultra Rare
