Chapter Three

Maths. First lesson of the day, and it had to be Maths. Well, it had to come some time or other, but did it have to be now? Nick sighed and turned his focus to the teacher.

At 10:50, the bell for break went. Nick was glad. He packed his stuff away and walked out. It was in the cloakbay that the boy from earlier caught up with him.
"Look, I'm sorry about before, kay?" Nick nodded.
"But seriously. What's up with your hair? Did ya die it or what?"
"Dunno. It just grew like this I guess."
"Oh." The boy sounded disappointed. "Anyway, I'm Josh."
"Kay."

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. When the bell rang at 3:00, everyone just about cheered. It wasn't because the lessons were too hard, or the teacher too strict, just that, even for the first day, everyone was glad it was the end of the day. Nick grabbed his homework and left. It was a fairly long walk home, which gave him time to reflect over the day.
Maths=FAIL
Writing=Okay
P.E=Somewhat interesting
As it was only the start of term, subjects like Science weren't yet introduced. Realizing that he had reached home, Nick vaulted over the gate and let himself inside. As usual, his mum was out, probably at work. He grabbed a chocolate bun from the pantry and headed upstairs.
