Description Chapter Two

Nick knew he should have expected this, it always happened. But it was annoying. Very annoying. The bell rang five minutes later, signalling the start of school. Everyone filed in, wondering who their teacher was going to be. Nick tried to ignore the stares of the other students, and sat down. The last student had found their seat when the teacher waltzed in. The class fell silent at once. The teacher was tall with short black hair and was wearing a long purple dress with high heeled boots.
"Okay, good morning, and I am Ms Lori." Ms Lori walked up to the white board, pulled out a pen and wrote RULES, then underlined it.
"Now, before we start on the introductions, lets get the rules out of the way. One of the most important rules is to not talk while anyone else is." She wrote that one the board.
"What might a next rule be?" She asked.
"Yes?" A blond-haired girl, sitting at the back of the classroom replied, "Be nice to others?"
"That's also really important. We do have to be nice to others. But there's one main one that I'm looking for. Does anyone know?"
Kids put guesses forwards, such as,
"Don't feed the pigeons?"
"Keep the classroom tidy?"
"Respect others?"
Until finally, someone got, "Respect the school property."
"This is really important," began Ms Lori. "As the school equipment is really expensive, and as the teachers are on a set budget, we can't really afford to buy any more." Nick sighed and checked his watch. 9:20. Ages to go until morning-tea. Ms Lori said, "Now, for homework-"
"Homework? It's the first day and we get HOMEWORK?" This outburst, although whispered, was clearly audible.
"That's enough from you! Anyway, as I was saying, the homework is to reply to this letter," she held up a letter. "And hand it in to me. You have until Wednesday to complete." Ms Lori started handing out letters. When Nick got his, he read it through. Basically all it said was where Ms Lori lived, favourite food and other stuff like that. He stowed it in his desk and sat up.
