Description (I haven't written one of these in awhile, but after reading a fic I was very inspired to write one myself! I hope this is easy to understand. )

In the late hours of the night we have all our heroes and mercenaries asleep in their rooms, all except for the Medic. The man was in the lab working on improvements for his Medigun. With Overwatch's up to date equiptment it made his job a lot easier and opened doors to many new possibilities. But for now, he wanted to modify his Medigun so it'd heal twice times as fast... "This will show that stuck up, winged-" He took a deep breath, letting it go shortly after. He didn't want to risk waking the others, who knows where his exasperation would have led him that time.

It was almost complete, the corner of his mouth turned up. Now finally he could show the others who the most superior doctor is, he could barely contain his laughter as he finished up his work. The doctor grinned at his improved Medigun, holding it up like it was some sort of treasure. "Once the others see how more effective you are, they won't leave me here in the lab all the time.." the german doctor spoke, the joy in his face faded away.

As if he had to do this. Ever since his team joined overwatch he was pushed aside most of the time. Whenever there would be missions they only brought along one of the doctors, her... The man sighed, he placed his Medigun gently down on the table. He had more time on his hands, more time to work on new things, but still. He couldn't help but miss being in battle, he missed the thrills, the hurting, the praise. Β He found himself staring at a photo of him and his colleagues, this was taken way before they had met overwatch. "Oh those were the golden days.." the Medic said as he reached for the picture, looking down at it. He'd give up one, no, three of his souls to go back to these days.

CREAK...

The doctor dropped the photo, his attention immediately turning towards the door. 'Scheisse, why her?' He looked to the other doctor, giving off a bothered look. He'd say no words, hopefully that would be enough to make her go away. Β "Oh- I'm sorry herr Ludwig, I wasn't expecting anyone in the lab at this time." Mercy, also known as Angela Ziegler would say in a hushed tone. Medic could only roll his eyes at her and turned his attention towards his Medigun, he pulled a piece of cloth out of his pocket and began wiping the surface of his weapon.

Angela wasn't fully aware of Medic's behavior, she was still a bit sleepy after all. But she couldn't bring herself to go back to sleep. The swiss doctor made her way across the room, at the other end there was a coffee machine along with some paper cups and all the essentials. She turned on the machine, placing a cup into it and watched as the brown liquid poured down. "I hope you don't mind my company, I can't seem to fall back asleep." she heard no response from the other doctor but didn't think much of it. Perhaps some coffee will help him be more communicative.

Medic was completely annoyed by her presence, but he couldn't tell her that. He tried his best to keep to himself. The shadow she casted made it hard for him to clean a certain spot on his Medigun, he then was interrupted by a cup of coffee that was being held right in front of his face. He took it, honestly he would have made one for himself if he hadn't been so busy so this was very kind of her- no. The man gave no thanks, sipping the hot beverage. He'd hear the chair beside him be pulled back, he just sighed. With the blonde goody goody sitting beside him he knew this was going to be a long night. He should head back to his room before she starts trying to conversate with him.

Mercy got comfortable in her seat, she was actually glad Medic was awake, now they finally have some time to talk to eachother. She was fascinated by him, he was able to create a healing device way way back when technology wasn't even close to being as advanced as it is today. She had so much questions for him, but she wanted to start off simple. "So, how are you feeling? Sorry if I was interrupting anything." the blonde would take a sip of her coffee. There was still no response from him, something wasn't right. She eyed him carefully, she could tell he was upset. But why? Something caught her attention at the corner of her eye, on the floor she seen a picture, the doctor picked it up and inspected it.

It was him and the allies, it brought a smile to her face. They seemed like a caring crew, there was so much chemistry seen in the picture. And the smile on the Medic's face, she didn't recall seeing him smile like that. Not since their teams were fighting against Talon and the Machines. He was quite loud on the field when he'd let out his battle cries or laughter, although none could compare to the Soldier. He was by far the loudest one. She remembered so much on that day, while she took her work very seriously he seemed to have a lot of fun out of it. Nowadays she barely seen that side of him. She snapped out of her thoughts when hearing the slight gasp coming from the other doctor, he snatched the photo out of her hand and tucked it into his pocket. Angela felt a bit of shame, she pulled a few hairs behind her ear. "My apologies, it seems my curiousity got the better of me.." she'd let out a little chuckle, still no response...

The german doctor clenched the cup in his hand almost crushing it entirely. It was bad enough that she had to be here, now she's putting her prissy fingers all over his things. Why did they always choose her over him? She was a woman, and she hardly caused any damage or injuries to the enemies. Despite that ridiculous ability to power her team. What was that compared to his Kritzkrieg!? What was worse is that his own teammates went along with her too. He hated her, he hated her so much.

Upon hearing the quickened breathing of her fellow doctor she had come to the thought that she may have angered him. She didn't think having that photo would upset him this much. He doesn't seem to want to talk to her at all, apologizing to him would be out of the question. Perhaps she needed to go with a different approach, something he'd be sure to respond to. That's when she took notice of the Medigun in front of him, perfect! Being a medic with healing inventions herself she could never turn down the chance to talk about them, she could go on for hours. Maybe that'd be the same case for Medic. Besides she never had the chance to learn about his tech and now seemed like the perfect time to.

Angela cleared her throat in an attempt to grab the Medic's attention, that didn't work but she still wanted to go through with her plan. She reached for the device pulling it towards her, it was quite heavy and caused a bit of noise. Now this certainly caught the man's attention. He took her by the wrist keeping a tight grip on it. The anger on his face was showing more than ever, she admitted that she was feeling a bit frightened. "Keep your hands off of my things Fraulein!!! Or I will cut them off und use them in a way your innocent mind could never imagine!" The Medic barked.

This caused Mercy to instantly pull back. She knew he was far from a sane man, so the thought of his threat scared her to death. "I- I'm sorry.. I just wanted to have a look at it.." she explained, watching as he took the gun into his hands. The Medic stood up from his chair and headed for the door. Mercy quickly got up, reaching for his shoulder. "Wait!" he stopped. "Before you go, I have to say.. It's amazing how you were able to create such a device, especially at that point in time where there was no such thing as a smart phone." she saw him turn his head a bit, it seems like he was listening now.

As much as he wanted to leave, he couldn't. Her words kept him from doing so. He felt her take her hand off his shoulder. "You can go if you'd like, but if you stay.. I would love to hear more about your invention." Has his hearing gone bad or did someone actually want to talk about his work? He slowly turned around to face the blonde, he was greeted by her smile. He was more than glad to shoot her with a big fat NEIN! but instead found himself getting seated once more as he put his Medigun back down. "Well, second to my crusader's crossbow this happens to be one of the most reliable out of all mein creations.." He stated, fixing his crooked glasses. He made no eye contact with her, he didn't need to nor did he want to.

The doctor continued. "Very much like your.. staff, it uses a beam that attaches itself to the patient and can heal a very good amount of injuries." He despised having to compare his precious Medigun to her poor excuse for a toothpick. "Well I know that much already." The swiss woman chuckled, he was bugged, even more so after his previous statement. Mercy was now seated next to him, tending back to her cup of coffee. "What is the technology that's responsible for the healing? Now that is what I'd like to know." Medic let out a small chuckle, repositioning himself on his chair so that he'd be facing her. "Well it's a formula I have created." The doctor went on to explain how his healing worked, in great detail too. He hadn't noticed the joy he was feeling, he was too caught up in the excitement of sharing his marvels to another individual, especially with someone who was in the same profession as him.

Angela listened as the german doctor spoke, every bit of information he had given her was quite interesting. Although some of it she couldn't entirely understand, it was still fascinating to her. She took note of the change in his behaviour, she knew that look on his face all to well. It seemed like ages ago since she last explained her biotic technology to someone, she remembered how much happiness it brought to her. So hearing Medic talk and seeing the huge grin on his face gave her a warm feeling inside. Healing was one thing, but making others happy was another. She wouldn't mind if they spent the whole night just talking about his work.

But she couldn't ignore the thoughts in the back of her head, why was he so upset earlier.

(Not sure if that's good enough for the first chapter but yeah- I'll leave it there. I'm planning on making this a slow burn romance!!!)
