Description On hwy. 9, moving SE towards Canon City, the road gains enough altitude to give you a look back to the W at the Collegiate Range. It's known for having several of Colorado's "fourteener" mountains. Almost center (I believe) is Mt. Princeton and the tallest one to the viewers left is probably Mt. Antero. Princeton's peak is approximately 36.5 miles away as the crow flies. If I have inaccurately labeled a peak, please let me know in the comments below or message me. I'm not an expert on the area.

This is just a small portion of what amounts to a long mountain range running N/S along the top of which runs what is called the "Continental Divide." That would be the main series of mountain ridges in North America, chiefly the crests of the Rocky Mountains that form a watershed that separates the rivers flowing east into the Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico from those flowing west into the Pacific Ocean. The side of the range you see here is flowing east or southeast so you are looking basically West.
