The effects of his Ignis only last on the cooking itself for up till 24 hours, therefore it needs to be consumed within 24 hours after being made before effects will no longer take place.
Lucas' Just Desserts candies are a special case, as they're made with pure concentrated Ignis and therefore do not lose their effects until either consumed or until perished.
Effects work on ANYONE who has consumed Ignis illigo food.

Lucas cooks meals with his Ignis, combining the components of his magic with the food. Each meal provides a different effect.
  Limitations:
Lucas isn't always sure what effect his cooking may give.
The effects can be negative or positive and he won't know until it's tested.
Food must be consumed (not in its entirety) to have effect.
The meal must be cooked with his Ignis to harbour effects.
Effect's duration depends on how much has been consumed.
Effects can overlap with different meals (e.g omelettes and red velvet cake may give same type of effect)
Entrée is limited to a once a day use. Lucas can only cook one magic meal a day, every other meal is made with regular fire.
Finishing the meal grants a 12 hour effect.
Entrée effects are idle lasting, therefore if doing more than general activities, effects will disperse. (Think of it like an in-game buff that stops buffing once in combat)
Effects may include but are not limited to: Relaxer, Focus, Energy, Sleepiness, Senses heightened, Constipation, Diarrhea, Moodiness, Lack of emotions, Overly emotional, Warmth, Coldness etc.

Lucas can create up to 6 candies every three days, made purely out of Ignis concentrate.
  Limitations:
The candy effects to not stack, therefore Lucas cannot eat all 6 candies at once to become some super vampire.
Candies must be consumed within at least 10 minute cool down of each other, taking them one after the other will cause the body to go into a shut down due to overdose.
Cool down starts after effects of last consumed candy is over.
Candy effects last a total of 10 minutes.
Effects grant a 10% increase in its corresponding stat.

[ Boxing | Weapon]
▸ [Lucas carries around candies made by his Ignis, each flavor benefiting different effects. ]
He carries one of each and doesn't usually restock them often.
Strawberry - Increase in endurance
Lemon - Increase in stamina
Blueberry - Increase in focus

Lucas is what one would call a true neutral, he doesn't have a bias side and only acts upon things if he feels it's a good idea. He's not a gallant gentleman nor is he an evil master mind, but he does do things with only good outcomes in mind. The kind of person who's happy to help but won't go out of his way to do so.

As neutral has Lucas may be, he is a friendly soul, never one to hold malice or really even experience fits of anger. He feels that everything must happen for a reason and if that reason happen to be non-beneficial to him then that's ok. You could say that he's a very casual kind of person who goes with the flow.

Although friendly and playful, Lucas isn't one to become personal with people. He prefers not to enter people's personal spaces and to keep people out of his own. He rarely opens up to people and doesn't have anyone he can exactly call 'close' and that's the way he prefers it.

Don't mistake his friendliness or casual-manner as passiveness, however, if Lucas feels that he needs to engage in aggressive behavior, he will do so.

Lucas was raised in a rather modern day timeline, this parents being on the younger side of the vampire bloodline themselves. They weren't part of any clans, nor did they see themselves as above other beings, but they did recognize that they were gifted with a special kind of magic.

The Elliott family was gifted with a special cooking magic which has been passed down through the generations and Lucas was no exception to that. He was taught from the young age of 9 how to cook (starting off from the simplest meals of course) and combine his magic with his cooking.

Lucas grew up loving cooking and foods, as his parents were very supportive in their teaching methods, and it's become a very large part of his life.

It wasn't long into adulthood that Lucas felt it was time he became independent from his parents, applied for Luna Arcana in hopes to broaden his magic potential. When he was accepted he bid his parents goodbye and left fairly swiftly, not one for emotional goodbyes.

Lucas is a very particular breed of vampire, he doesn't thirst for blood but he is required to consume it.
Takes the blood pills supplied to him by the school.
No blood consumed = weak or no magic
He holds a pot luck style event on Fridays and cooks the ingredients provided with Ignis so it's like Russian Roulette with food it's fun come play.
A very modern-day vampire.
