Well, technically, no. Karate means "Empty handed," or without weapons.

No, they're not. How would I know? Simple; I have a Shadow Chao and only interact with him as Sonic (regular leveling up and general care; Races) or Shadow (same as Sonic; Karate). Despite seeming to be... trigger happy, Shadow has never once offered Yami a gun. He just sits back, only cheering Yami on and nothing more. Other than that, Yami is all on his own.
Also, I have a Sonic and (what SHOULD be) a Knuckles chao. Junior and Dengen <3
Dengen literally means "Power", and he was born from a red egg, while Junior is a sky blue Sonic chao. Also, Hikari, the other of my two first chao, is soon to be a NiGHTS chao. As soon as I get his flying and swimming levels up high enough, that is... -_-U Little idiot is fascinated by water. As are the rest of my chao, whether they can swim or not. _-_
