Honeybreeze and her sister, Fennelpeak. If you’re caught up on my comic, Fennelpeak is the “Nursing Queen” that Wolfheart killed. Her kits are the current apprentices.

They do have a brother, and I was tempted to draw him, but meh I didn’t know how to incorporate his crippled leg into a running pose. I was also way too lazy to do a background.

Honeybreeze has a semi-complicated relationship with her siblings. She herself grew up as a prized cat to Moatclan. She was the first medicine cat apprentice and a smart one at that, and Fennelpaw and Shallowpaw hid in the shadows of her fame and glory. They became Fennelpeak and Shallowfall with no real excitement other than “yay new warriors!”. Of course their parents, Fierrominnow and Flytail, were ecstatic, but that’s about it. But the two clans were in war, and Patchwillow and Elkpaw(foot) fought a little too rough and knocked Shallowfall off a large boulder, breaking both of his legs. He was unstable for days, and finally his breaths stopped. Stormsun, the medicine cat and Honeybreeze’s mentor, tried to save him, but in the end it was Honeypaw who brought her brother back to life.

Moatclan was thrilled, and Stormsun named her Honeybreeze on the spot, and another battle ensued quickly after that. Moatclan’s prized Warrior was killed as well as one of Lionstar’s lives being taken. Honeybreeze was scared at another cat dying from the injuries of the way tougher Lionclan, so she took it upon herself to suggest to the deputy, Branchfur, to stop being so tough on Lionclan patrols. Fennelpeak, much to Honeybreeze’s shock, yelled at her for this, and supported Branchfur’s accusation of Honeybreeze being a “goody two-paws”. Heartbroken, Honeybreeze watched from a distance as Fennelpeak and Branchfur had their first litter of kittens. Meanwhile Shallowfall sat back, known as the cat with the crippled back feet, only alive because of his medicine cat sister. Fennelpeak’s whole family was surprised, however, when Branchfur and his patrol dragged home Coltpaw(nose) and Laurelpaw(thistle), two of her kits, who were slain by badgers, and Fennelpeak barely reacted. Branchfur resented all the medicine cats from then on out, but Fennelpeak apologized for her jealousy of Honeybreeze and barely spoke again.

Primrosewater, their final daughter, grew up and became distant as time went on, but it took a turn for the worse when Branchfur was slain in battle and Primrosewater was almost killed. Fennelpeak was pregnant with her second litter and gave birth to Foxkit, Flickerkit, Finchkit, and Floodkit shortly after Branchfur died. Primrosewater started hanging out with two Lionclan cats, Sweettail and Duskrose, by the cover of night and at Gatherings, and Fennelpeak became increasingly closer to her mother, Fierrominnow.

Honeybreeze was far too disconnected with her measly family’s problems at this point to notice. She felt bad for her sister after her mate’s death, yes, but Eelwish’s arrival and Stormsun’s death were more important. Finally, at the battle of Lionstar and Moatstar’s deaths, Wolfheart accidentally killed his own clanmate and Fennelpeak herself as she tried to run back to the nursery to help her kits, who were watching from the nursery.

Her parents try to tell her that it wasn’t her fault. And it wasn’t. But Honeybreeze can’t help but feel like ever since Branchfur’s demise, Fennelpeak was ready to go. Shallowfall and Honeybreeze sat together at the entrance to the medicine den one day, and both watched the sunset, saddened by the loss of their dear little sister.

Let me know if you guys want me to do more things like this, where I just talk about our main character’s relationship with their family, clanmates, mentors, leaders, etc. They’re fun to do!!
