Description
The 'goddess' of spring and queen of the underworld, Persephone!UPDATE: When I first conceived of doing anthro/furry versions of the Greek gods, I thought Persephone didn't have any animals associated with her, and therefore went with a species that I thought would best represent springtime; a rabbit. However, a while ago, I ended up making the discovery that an animal *was* associated with the original Persephone; a deer.
I did consider ignoring that and just sticking with what I already had, but the more I thought about it, the more practical it seemed to made Persephone a deer instead:
-Artemis is also associated with deer, and while I made my version of Artemis a wolf, it should be noted that she and Persephone are heavily associated with one another. They were childhood friends and seemingly kept in touch even when Persephone went to live in the underworld. Plus, the two goddesses were often worshipped together.
-I read that Persephone heavily resembled her mother, Demeter. While I have no intentions of making Demeter a deer (there are too many reasons to keep Demeter a horse: in one of her most well-known myths, she transformed into one in order to outrun Poseidon; this myth resulted in Demeter giving birth to a horse named Arion, as well as gaining the title "Black Demeter"; she's also known for having braided hair, and having my version be a horse enables me to include that fun little detail), there is a closer resemblance between a horse and a deer than there is a horse and a rabbit.
-Persephone's beauty was said to rival that of Aphrodite, who in my version, is a pegaus (a winged horse). Much like with Demeter, it seems better to compare a horse and a deer in that regard than a horse and a rabbit.
-Finally, I already have a hare character with plant powers, and while a hare and a rabbit are two different species, they often get confused with one another. Having Persephone be a much different species would curb any comparison between the two.
So here we are! My new design for the Queen of the Underworld.
I looked more facts about Persephone in order to gain a clearer image of how she was supposed to look, and discovered that she was described as "dark-eyed," buxom and "trim-ankled," meaning she had great legs.
I also based her outfit off this from FA: www.furaffinity.net/view/46175… The green strings reminded me of green vines, which suited Persephone's plant powers.
Also, all the flower accessories she's wearing are all the flowers listed in the tale of how Persephone was abducted by Hades: she had been in a field with Artemis and Athena (and possibly a whole bunch of other female characters; it varies from telling to telling), gathering flowers: roses, lilies, crocuses, hyacinths, irises... until Persephone was lured away from her group by a narcissus flower, which was how Hades was able to capture her without interference.
I also gave her a see-through cape in an effort to make her *slightly* more regal.
Here's my original version:

Thank you very much! I thought a "bunny" would work well for a "goddess of spring" type, as that's the type of species that's most often associated with spring time. Plus, I read that Persephone was supposed to be one of those "so beautiful it's a curse" types, so I knew she had to be a knockout.
But I'm glad you like her personality. From what I read about her, I realized she could be a character who's gone through quiet a journey, going from naive, sheltered Mama's girl, to a feared and respected High Queen.

You are welcome and that is sensible logic on this, my friend.
Yep, she became battle-hardened, in a sense.

She looks pretty sweet ^^. Cool work on her dress with her body shape showing through and her colorful flower crown!

Thank you very much! Yup, so many of the other 'god' characters dress so skimpy, yet it didn't feel right to put her in a bikini. But I also didn't want her to stand out too much. So a see-through dress seemed the best option.

I don't know if this is coincidence or not, but your version of Demeter reminds me of the one from SMT: vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/me…

So would that mean that Hades is fine with ruling the Underworld?

My version of Hades is nothing like the Disney version. Hades is quite content living in the beautiful and glorious jewel caves. He's got water (there's an underground river that became known as the River Styx), some sunlight that seeps in through holes, although he also has light from the glowing crystals, and thanks to Persephone, flowers and crops grow down there. It's an underground paradise, not at all dismal. Plus, he has a sizable amount of subjects who respect him (they also fear him, but it's a respectful fear).

I thought all versions of Hades didn't like being God of the Underworld

Not my version. Also, from what I read about the original Hades, he didn't mind his position.

You'll have to wait and see. I am simultaneously trying to remain faithful to their original versions, while also taking as many creative liberties as I can. It's been quite a journey.

Well I hope you can get more creative with Zeus because not many versions of him put him in a good light.

I only know of a few, the Hercules one, the remake of Clash of the Titans, The one in the Percy Jackson series is kind of a middle ground for me, the God of War Zeus is the same for me, the Zeus from the Hercules and Xena animated movie, and that's it.

Yes, and I also heard that in the 2017 Wonder Woman movie, Zeus had a relatively positive portrayal.

You mean in my story? In my story, Zeus is going to be an antagonist, although I also plan on him being more complicated than "simply evil."

I meant in the movie. I figured you would have more complex take off Zeus.

Dude, I just said I planned on making Zeus complicated. I'm not going to make him one-dimensionally evil.

Well, you thought I meant your Zeus, I was just clarifying which Zeus I was taking about, and then stating afterward about it, don't treat me like I wasn't listening.

I didn't think you weren't listening. I thought you were being condescending. When you said, "I figured you would have more complex take off Zeus," I thought you were expressing disappointment that I was going to make Zeus an antagonist.

I wasn't. I could care less about which side your characters were on, you shape them however you please, alignment is irrelevant, they are always interesting because there is always more to them than meets the eye.

Thank you. And I'm sorry for being so sensitive. I just want my story to be liked and for my take on the Greek figures to be called 'creative' and 'complex', yet I have so much to live up - which are really my own expectations, so I'm a little on edge. But I shouldn't snap at people.

We're both at fault, I got a little defensive myself. So what if someone doesn't like your stuff, you can't please everyone, as long as there are people who like it, screw those who don't, haters gonna hate. But in all honesty, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself, I don't see anyone criticizing any of your work, so that must mean you're doing something right.

Thank you very much! Oh yeah, Persephone may look all sweetness and light, but there's a reason she would go on to be as feared as her husband. ^^
