Verae is one of the two demons that closely worked with Nazar in the past. How long she has known him or Scevola is anyone's guess, but she's loyal to him all the same. Verae served Nazar alongside Scevola and participated in the Interloper War once it had been sparked. She enjoyed the bloodshed and helped as she could to make the war rage on. Verae played the same role Scevola did in that she was sent against greater oppositions, but she didn't contribute much to plans given her lust for battle. When the sages started to pose a problem, Verae was sent against them as Nazar and Scevola dealt with the sheikah. As the sages were fought, Verae toyed with and then overpowered them. She ended up killing a few of them and weakening the sages overall. The sages she killed were a testament to the strength and skill she had behind her, pushing the others back in fear. This let the Interlopers advance and push back their opposition.
Eventually the light spirits intervened and Verae watched them push the interlopers back after taking their power from them. While she'd tried to resist them, Verae couldn't and was chased into what later became known as the Twilight Realm. She'd held out longer than Scevola in being banished, but the outcome was the same. Once there, Verae was frustrated to the point of extreme anger and took it out on others around her. The biggest disappointment came when she realized only Scevola was with her. While he believed that Nazar survived, she was less willing to accept it given she believed he'd have ended up with them.
Verae changed physically and adapted to the realm like the Interlopers. Unlike Scevola she looked more akin to what the Interlopers became rather than a monster (though she had her differences). She adapted also to the culture and learned the new language. While annoyed at her transformation and position, she had less of a problem with it than Scevola. She worked with it and managed to handle it well enough. Later on she became seen as a goddess of sorts granted her longevity and power. This was more than accepted and it went to her head over time. Verae took her position for granted and changed to become even worse in personality.
Recently a path back to Hyrule was opened by Nazar. Verae had been "too busy" to check it out, but later did when Scevola reported back that it was Nazar who reopened the path between worlds. She was initially skeptical and "supposed" that she should go see him to make sure it wasn't a lie. As soon as they'd met again, it was as though very little had changed. Verae seemed to gladly accept to work with Nazar again like they had in the past. When brought to Hyrule, Verae had no way of being effective due to her weakness against light. Due to Nazar pulling some strings, however, she was given an immunity to it and now walks Hyrule freely.
Plot History:
Verae has been active behind the scenes since she was released from the Twilight Realm. She has been keeping an eye on the twili and manipulating them to her cause to ensure loyalty. Verae has been surveying the other races and causing trouble where she had been told to. During this time she was confronted with a twili who sought her and Scevola out. Unfortunately she wanted nothing to do with Iri and left her with Nerin for the most part. Her efforts to disrupt the other races were going fine until the time tears appeared. What she was doing was interrupted and she came back to the castle to learn about it.
Upon learning of the time tears Verae grew upset, showing discontent with what had happened. She was more or less upset she wasn't involved in fighting the invading forces and how her efforts were rendered useless. She was promised the task of going after the sages which turned her mood around. Verae knows of the Temple of the Sages and that it is in use thanks to Dryst when he defected to Nazar's forces. She is currently assisting Scevola in dealing with the twili which are now being turned into twilit messengers. She is trying to gain favor enough to use these beasts in her own quest against the sages. However, it's fairly clear she's only intending to hunt the sages for Nazar's cause, not to protect Ganondorf whom she has no loyalty to.
