I was reading this guy's Tfwiki.net entry and suddenly remembered how incredibly awesome he is.

Rampage started life as a failed Maximal experiment to replicated Starscream's indestructible spark. The Maximals succeeded but, of course, the thing was incredibly unstable. They chose to dump the creature on a planet.

However, the voyage on which it would have been disposed of was sidetracked in order to aprehend the villain Megatron and his band of rogue Predacons.

Protoform X here soon awoke from stasis on the planet and proceeded to mercilessly hunt down both Maximal and Predacon for all of one episode before being eventually hunted down by Megatron who tested the supposed indestructable spark and found that, indeed, it would hold up to some severe torture. Protoform X would become the unwilling Predacon known as Rampage.

Rampage would continue for two seasons becoming more unstable and more maniacally depressed about his torturous existence. He would brief outlet in the creature known as Transmutate, a mutant transformer whom he felt a mild kinship. Unfortunately, Transmutate would be destroyed protesting against the violence in the Maximal/Predacon conflict and Rampage would once again be left to mourn his existence alone.

At the forward end of Season 3, the Maximal rogue Depth Charge would follow Rampage to Earth, seeking revenge for the damage Rampage had caused on a space station, of which Depth Charge was the only survivor. Their bitter, violent rivalry would be played out over the course of the season, finally ending at the season finale. In the final confrontation, Depth Charge would have Rampage pinned to the ground with a blade of raw energon hanging over his chest. Rampage willingly accepts the blade into his Spark, ending both Depth Charge and himself in the subsequent explosion.

Rampage has to be one of the real unsung heroes of the Transformers mythos. His personality is truely unique and the writing for him was brilliant.

This is my tribute to this absolutely perfect character.
