Description
Digimon provide a great opportunity for practicing furries closer to the variety I want to draw - with more realistic proportions whilst still having an anime style. I chose Leomon because I'm practicing lion men at the moment, to design my husband's new character.
For the most part, this is probably a pretty standard interpretation of what a Leomon digivolution line might look like, save for Flaremon. I'm just not too fond of GrapLeomon and didn't feel like drawing it. I thought Flaremon would give me more practice into a bulkier body type. And I experimented with a pose I've never used before as well.
Opinions: Liollmon is just adorable, and when I discovered its existence years ago, I was happy to see a more fitting rookie for the famous Leomon.
I've always liked Leomon for being a powerful-looking, yet fatherly lion.
Flaremon's probably my least favorite here. Its design felt too convoluted and was confusing to draw from the poor reference material I had. I suspect I'd probably like this picture more had I chosen a less dynamic pose for such a complicated monster. Still, I have always preferred it the most in the Coronamon line.
And BanchoLeomon gave Leomon a mega that continued his humanoid majesty, so I've always liked it over the years. He's probably my favorite in this image. I love the way his colors go together. He just looks so suave and elegant whilst also being badass. A great continuation of Leomon's legacy.
