The textures are just standard Gimp brushes, but I love using them for things like these.

Hmm, the effects? I've been using several standard brushes from Gimp and several layers in different modi. Erased and smudged some of the brush lines. Used mostly a grid brush to create the textures.

Hmm, maybe you have to check the Gimp homepage for extra brushes. I use Gimp under Linux and usually install add all the extras and plugins together with it.
