I like that image especially with that title. Because of course there is no symmetry, in the narrow sense, at all, but at the same time there is a balance to the composition as well as to the landscape, and the title makes me aware of the two (almost) symmetrical sides of my body and how they relate to the space you have opened for me, makeing me not only view that vista, but grasp it also with my bodily experience.

This is an incredible pic - but what I want to know is - where the heck were you standing?

Yes, sometimes it does... and it's so nice to be there to witness it when it does. Even nicer when you have a camera to catch and share that moment. Excellent work as always.

Stunning shot Micheal, I personally find it bizarre that someone would think this to be unrealistic, but it takes all sorts.

this doesn't really look like a photograph. Makes me think it's modified, probably because of the river. It just doesn't look natural.

The scene is completely natural. Post-processing only included the following: Dodging of trees in shadows on the right, minor saturation reduction and lightening of blue sky to reduce effect of high altitude over-polarization, and removal of minimal posterization of sky that occured with saturation adjustment. I also removed a couple Yak dung piles in the foreground grass. Everything else is exactly as captured in camera. I think the 'unnatural' part you refer to is the polarization effect which is a bit too strong but really difficult to correct. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix that, I'd love to hear them!

So that was it. It does have a strange effect. Nice shot, by the way. I forgot to tell you that. Good luck with your projects and don't stop photographing. You really have talent.

Just reading your comment here with interest
Did you use a polariser? the reason i ask is that you mentioned saturation reduction, i took an image recently which i presented at the local camera club competition, the judge "accused" me over post production, there was none other than a bit of saturation reduction (i used a polariser when taking the shot) it was just the sky was so blue and the clouds so white that it made it look artificial.
On your image here the only thing that caught my eye was what looked like a bit of lightening along the river banks to help promote the river!!!
But i love the way the river leads your eye through the shot which has amazing depth to it.
It's an amazing capture though
Well done

The opposing curves of the cloud and stream, the shadowed and sunlight slopes - perfection! That has got to be a one in a billion shot.
