Description
The Looneying Tones' coveted EP, Looney Shelter. Released at the height of the Vietnam war it featured one of their most famous and controversial hit singles, Looney Shelter. The band was formed by childhood friends Daniel "Daffy Duck" Canard Sr. and Benjamin "Bugs Bunny" Harestein. The third constant member to join the band was Parker "Porky Pig" Hampton. The lineup changes were so constant they were forced to change band members every month for almost 2 years until eventually they settled with their classic lineup:
L-R:
William "Wile" Ellington Coyote - Bass guitar
Randell "Roadrunner" Renner - Guitar, keyboards and backing vocals
Daniel "Daffy Duck" Canard Sr. - Lead vocals, occasional guitar and occasional keyboards
Benjamin "Bugs Bunny" Harestein - Guitar, backup vocals and occasional lead vocals
Parker "Porky Pig" Hampton - Drums and percussion
During the early 2000's after nearly 40 years of work, the band suffered the loss of guitarist Randell Renner. After his death bassist Wile E. Coyote left the band stating that depression due to the loss of his life long friend were the main reason. After that rumors arose that all five members of the band were in fact Vietnam war veterans. That due partly due to their most famous hit single, "Looney Shelter" and partly due to the fact the report of Renner's death stated that the cause of death was mainly due to Agent Orange exposure. Later records revealed that Wile E. was a chopper pilot in Vietnam, charged with the task of spraying the Agent Orange defoliant. This caused fans of the band to believe that Wile E. somehow blamed himself, directly or indirectly for Renner's death.
