Description
Painting I've just finished. It is a cover for a second book of Bogatyr trilogy (by J.Cervenak). Cover for the first book can be found here: [link]The Picture depicts Baba Jaga, character from Russian Legends (she was even in one Hellboy story). In the legends she is old and ugly. In this book she looks a little different

Baba Yaga's one of the best-known figures of my childhood... besides Koschej the Immortal, who's also a part of russian legends.)
Great work. I totally love it....

Love love love this piece. I could go on and on about what I think is amazing, but 'cus you will get so many s and comments I will give you the only little thing I don't like. It's the tatoos. I think you've not put in the same amount of effort into them. I think they're too pale and too sharp comparing with the rest of the piece. They are too perfect, if you know what I meen?
Now remember I LOVE this piece.

We've got Baba Jaga in Polish fairy tales, too. Maybe it has come to us from Russia? Who knows
Great portrait, she looks like a dangerous shaman here

The way you use light and color to bring out the body is very effective. This piece also has the wonderful, gritty, textured look that you use in a lot of your pieces. Great style.

This is a beautiful picture. The coloring is just great. I have the Hellboy comic with her in it. I remember Hellboy making her lose an eye.
This is one of the greatest drawings you've ever done.
FAVED!

Bloody hell! (lets cut my usual words of praise and get to the point): its grrreat, but maybe the muscles near the elbow of her hand are too thin? Just maybe. Its really hard to try to find some details, which could be made better, but really I cannot find anything else, sorry. Great idea to let the leg shine in green and shoulder in orange, her face really looks like the one of a wolf or something else, scaaary as hell. Also we dont see the dragons head, only the body- good achievement to let everybody know, what happens without showing it, thumbs up. The whole piece reminds me of the best works of ALEXI BRICLOT. I want a print of this!

Wow!
And yes, this is a different version of ol' Baba. The one in Hellboy is more traditional, but this one absolutely knocks my socks off. I love seeing different interpretations of figures and characters!
Thank you for sharing this marvelous work.
Take care,
I.

I really like how you have built up a very dark evil look to her, and indeed the killer glare that she is giving the viewer. The textures that you have used as well as the ruff background make it seem as if she is destroying the entire landscape around her to gather her dark powers.

Great painting for a book cover! The colors and lighting are perfect. Her face seems placed a little too far forward, though, from the angle of her shoulders, unless her head is supposed to be larger and elongated? I'm not familiar with the character, so you might have intended that. ^_^;;

Totally beautiful. I love how much motion and emotion this has... she's awesome. Wow, definitely a different take on this character I like her this way... she's a bit more pretty.. but she's still wearing rags and certainly looks feral.
I love all the little details in her outfit.. the intricate little bones, and all the texture on the fabrics. She's just... awesome, in so many ways. Honestly, the only thing I can think of that bothers me, as far as critique, is that the light hitting her shoulder seems a little.. bright? I like the secondary light source, but for some reason it looks to me like her shoulder itself is emitting light itself. If it's supposed, that's great... but it's a mite distracting, my eye keeps coming back to that really bright white spot on the shoulder.
But honestly.. it's a gorgeous work all around. I love how gutteral and scratched into existence she looks. Awesome.
