Description
Once upon a time there was a free man living in a free world. He was working with his free friend, the wind. Every morning, he was waiting for him, for its breaths, for its whispers, for its songs, for its stories. The wind was his vital energy, his present and his future, his whole life. His entire body was listening to every sign, feeling every shiver... His eyes were permanently looking at the sky, hoping for a smile in the clouds or for a wink of the sun which could announce the beginning of new times...But sometimes, nothing was happening, no breath, no lullaby, no voice in the air, just silence and emptiness all around. Then, when all the ordinary daily tasks were done, the man was sitting on the hill, his back against the warm wall of his mill, the eyes screwed towards the horizon, and he started to sing. His song was flying over the world, over the skies, inviting his friend to come and play with him.
The free wind was finally coming, sometimes quickly, sometimes later - the man had learned to be patient - and suddenly the wings of the mill were excited like birdies in the nest ready for their first flight...
And then the symphony began. Thousands laughing notes were spinning around and around all days long, millions golden melodies were illuminating the nights...
The man didnโt count, he worked during hours and hours, the wheat had a perfume of happiness and the flour a taste of gift.
Then, when the work was done, he felt asleep like a child, his soul sailing among the milky-way, flirting with the wind, just happy, because tomorrow new bread would be made.

I would love to see this photo prior to the manipulation it almost looks fake, in my eyes it looks more like a painting than a photograph.

I love it! It makes me thing that the mill is a factory of warm light... taking it from the sun by the wings... and reinforcing with the warmth of the ground... refining inside and radiating to bust the hbeavy clouds out... Maybe earth turns because of windmills like that... I feel it must be deeply connected - we should keep them turning

love the description, and I really like the strength of the picture, it speaks to me in so many ways.
I think a bird perched on one of the arms of the windmill would have been the perfect touch, but you can't really control that sort of thing unfortunately.

Picture is magnificent but the text, replace birdies with birds please because the story deserves it. The miller must get nice wind because all we get is annoying moderate wind as the saying goes in these parts "Neither nowt n'or something" usually with rain as well

Absolutely beutiful: the subject matter and the almost surrealistic richness and texture of the colours. The colors are so rich an vibrant and emphasise the subject matter wonderfully. A definite .

Allow me to ask though... HOW do you succed to get so "stong" colors? Is it natural (made with the camera) or via Photoshop? I really would like to know. I'd love to take shots like yours. They are so "alive!"

It's like you know i have have soft spot for clouds!
I can't work out the mood of the sky. Its such a beautiful and pleasant blue above the tree, but then next to the windmill, its goes a bit torrent & grey. I love the effect clouds can give, especially with your use of saturated colour.
Hmmmm, not that there is anything wrong with your composition (i do it, its exceptional) but you could get a bit more of an 'artistic' composition by using a bit more perspective, perhaps if you were to get 'under' the windmill a little more, to give it more of a towering above look... but preferably with still a little of the background plains. (not that i am fussy
)
Better yet, you could just get a to emerge from the clouds.
sidenote; have you seen the new Canon EOS 20D's ?
